Scope of Work
The scope includes supply and installation of metal framing, gypsum board fixing, joint treatment, and finishing of dry wall partitions as per approved drawings and specifications.
Materials
- Metal studs and tracks (galvanized steel)
- Gypsum boards (standard, moisture-resistant, or fire-rated as specified)
- Screws (self-drilling and self-tapping)
- Joint compound and tape
- Insulation (if required)
- Acoustic sealant
Equipment
- Screw gun
- Level and plumb bob
- Utility knife
- Taping knives
- Stilts or scaffolding
- Measuring tools
Step-by-Step Procedure
1. Layout
Mark partition layout on floor and ceiling as per approved drawings. Verify dimensions and locations.
2. Track Installation
Install ceiling and floor tracks using appropriate fixings. Ensure tracks are plumb and level. Maximum spacing of fixings: 600mm.
3. Stud Installation
Install vertical studs at 400mm or 600mm centers as specified. Secure studs to tracks with screws. Install noggings for additional support where required.
4. Board Fixing
Fix gypsum boards to studs using screws at 200mm centers. Stagger board joints on opposite sides of partition. Maintain 10mm gap at floor level.
5. Joint Treatment
Apply joint tape and compound to all joints. Apply minimum three coats of compound, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. Sand smooth between coats.
6. Finishing
Apply primer and paint as per specification. Install skirting and architraves as required.
Quality Control
Check verticality and alignment of partitions. Verify screw spacing and penetration. Inspect joint treatment for cracks and imperfections.
Health & Safety
All personnel shall wear PPE including dust masks when cutting and sanding. Use proper lifting techniques for heavy boards. Ensure adequate ventilation when applying compounds.
