1.0 PURPOSE

This method statement is applicable for Installation of Sleeves and  puddle flanges in all applicable areas for the project.

2.0 SCOPE

Supply , installation of sleeves and puddle flanges for all applications in line with project requirments.

  • Latest Approved shop drawings for the plumbing systems that applicble to the items.

               PQP                                      : Project Quality Plan

Puddle Flanges                   : where pipe work passes through the external walls of the building or the trenches blow

                                               ground level puddle flanges must be provided, which must be same material as the pipe                                  work of which they form a part.

UPVC Class E                    : Ultra polyvenile chloride for external sewerage/drainage works BS 3505.

ABS       UPVC                   : Ultra polyvenile chloride for Inside the building.

HDPE                                  : high density polyethylene to DIN 19535 for chemical waste

Following tools shall be arranged before starting the job.

  1. Tool box
  2. Gloves
  3. Goggles
  4. Chiping Hammer
  5. Spanner
  6. Portable grinder

 

7.0    PROCEDURE

 

7.1   Work Sequence/Procedure:

Attached risk assessment should be considered during the puddle flange and sleeves installation and necessary controls must be implemented as per recommendations.

Installation for the puddle flanges and sleeves must be in accourdance to the approved shop drawings and as per approved submittal and MIR.

7.2 Material Storage & Handling

All material must be handled in correct way and stored in clean dry area.

7.3. Sleeves and Puddle Flange Installation:

7.3.1 Installation of Sleeve

  1. As per approved shop drawings and Invert Level, mark the centre and invert level of Sleeve on reinforcement /steel bars.
  2. Steel fixing contractor to bend and clear the exact area for installing Sleeve.
  3. Once the location is clear, position the Sleeve in the steel area.
  4. Once the Sleeve is in proper location recheck the level and alignment.
  5. Tie the sleeves with suitable wires with steel to avoid any misalignment while concreting.
  6. Clearance for civil contractor to close the shutter with exact holes matching with Sleeve to proceed with concrete pouring.

7.3.2 Installation of Puddle Flange

            There are different types of puddle flanges as per below table:

            And the sequence of installation as follow as shown in Figure a:

  1. As per approved shop drawings and Invert Level, mark the centre and invert level of Puddle flange on reinforcement /steel bars.
  2. Steel fixing contractor to bend and clear the exact area for installing puddle flange.
  3. Once the location is clear, position the puddle flange in the steel area.
  4. Once the puddle flange is in proper location recheck the level and alignment.
  5. Clearance for civil contractor to close the shutter with exact holes matching with puddle flange to proceed with concrete pouring.
  6. Tobe painted externally with two coats of Bituminous paint before being built into structure.
  7. Bolts, nuts, washers, to be S.Steel 316.
  8. Die electricl materials to be used between two different flanges.
