Overview
This method statement describes the procedures for the installation of HVAC dampers including volume control dampers, fire dampers, smoke dampers, and combination fire/smoke dampers. Proper damper installation is critical for system performance and life safety.
Scope of Work
The scope includes the installation of all types of dampers in ductwork and wall/floor assemblies, including mounting, sealing, actuator installation, and control wiring connections.
Installation Procedures
- Verify damper type, size, and rating against approved submittals
- Inspect damper for shipping damage before installation
- Install damper in ductwork with proper orientation
- Secure damper frame to duct with approved fasteners
- Seal perimeter gaps with approved sealant
- Install actuator and connect control wiring
- Test damper operation through full range of motion
- Verify fire/smoke damper fusible link or release mechanism
Inspection and Testing
All dampers shall be inspected for proper installation, smooth operation, and correct control response. Fire and smoke dampers shall be tested for proper closure and alarm activation. All test results shall be documented for code compliance verification.
