METHOD OF STATEMENT FOR ELECTRIC WATER HEATER INSTALLATION

METHOD OF STATEMENT  FOR

ELECTRIC WATER HEATER INSTALLATION

  1. Open an approved shop drawing for electric water heater location.
  2. Electric water heater to be installed should have already passed the qualification test before installation.
  3. Check and secure that all accessories and parameters are complete base on its available manual.
  4. Locate and install water heater on the wall, level and plumb, and firmly anchored based on the approved coordination shop drawings. Use water heater mounting brackets from manufacturer factory fabricated steel bracket for wall mounting that capable of supporting water heater containing water.
  5. Install electrical connections for power supply wiring and disconnect switch (i.e. terminate power supply cord of electric water heater to the cord terminals or outlet as per drawing).
  6. Arrange the electric water heater ready for the access of installation for water supply flexible hose(30cm long), valves and other accessories to complete its operation. Arrange units so that controls and devices needing services are accessible.
  7. Make connections to dissimilar metals with dielectric fittings.
    1. Use approved fittings for connection of dissimilar metal or materials (i.e. connect angle valve to elbow brass insert and water heater flexible hose to angle valve). Elbow brass insert are fixed already to hot and cold pipes before connections of dissimilar metals. Flexible hose connections shall be enough to connect between water heater and angle valves.
    2. Apply Teflon tape around the threaded part in reverse direction of tight.
    3. Use proper tools to tight. Strap wrench for plastic and adjustable wrench for metal to metal. Do not over-tight to avoid material from damage.
  8. Absolute care is to be imposed upon installation of the unit not to damage any finishing materials installed.
  9. Recheck the water heater installation based on the approved drawings and manufacturer installation manual before actual operation test. Be sure that all connections are fixed.
  10. Fill water heater with water.
  11. Prepare a work inspection request of the unit installation for approval.
  12. Operational test the water heater. The test should be done with presence of Inspection Engineer for approval.
