Subject: Door Structural Opening; Change in Design
Dear Mr. Loh,
We refer to your instruction received via Aconex dated 17th October xxxx (see Appendix 1). You have asked us to change the Structural Opening for Doors in all pod types from 950mm to 880mm.
The above change will have technical, time, and cost implications. Please see below the impact on new production moving forward, and on pods under production.
- Impact on new production
- All mold drawings need to be revised.
- All fabricated molds need to be physically modified before we can continue casting. This may take 3-5 days. We have 15 completed molds for Tower 1 as of today.
- The wall drawings have to be revised and the CNC machines for wall structures will have to be reprogrammed. This can be done in 3-5 days (in parallel to modifying the molds).
- The tile layout on three types will have to be reworked and approved. This may take about three days from our side. The review and approval time at your end has to be assessed from your side.
- The GI boxes near the door will have to be repositioned.
Accordingly, in case you would like us to proceed with this design change, we will have to put the production on hold for about one week until the above modifications are done, before we can resume production.
- Impact on produced pods or pods under production
- The only way to change the opening size is by using fillers.
- A solution was proposed by Xxxx last Thursday (see Appendix 2).
- In case gypsum filler is not a preferred option, solid wood, cement board or plywood can be used. Please let us know what would be your preferred option.
- Upon receiving your guidelines, we can give you the cost and time impact on modifying the pods under production.
We look forward to receiving your prompt answer as production will be on hold until a decision is taken in this regard.
