1.0 SCOPE / OBJECTIVES
This Method Statement covers the installation of Surface Mounted Conduits and Accessories. This procedure is to define the method used to ensure that the Surface Mounted Conduits and Accessories have been installed as per the contract requirement.

Work will be carried out only when all associated works of Main Contractor been verified that they have been completed.
4.0 HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARDS.
Health and Safety procedure by Main Contractor and by A&P will be implemented for this job. The responsible Safety Officer for each building will conduct regular safety inspection.
- Safety Lighting.
Safety lights will be used in case of power failure ensuring the good illumination of the working area to aid evacuation if necessary.
- Task Lighting.
Adequate lighting will be provided ensuring the good illumination of the working area. Task lighting, where required will consist of tripod mounted fluorescent light.
- Emergency Arrangements.
- General: Site general safety procedures will be followed. In case of emergency the safety officer will stop the work, he will put into action the emergency arrangements and report to assembly points as indicated during Site Induction Course.
- Fire Precautions: No significant fire risk associated with this activity but general fire prevention measures will be taken as per Arabtec instructions to A&P.
- Communication: Communication from work areas to Site Office via mobile phones issued to Senior foremen. In emergency situations the users of hand-held 2-way radios to be notified if deemed that this can speed up notification of relevant personnel and/or the JBR01 Site Clinic.

- Environmental Considerations: After the finalization of the works the working area should be cleared of any scrap materials on a daily basis.

6.0 RESPONSIBILITIES / SUPERVISION
- Project Manager – will have the overall responsibility of the Project for execution, quality and safety. Also he will maintain the planning progress and coordination of works with Main Contractor.
- Project Senior Electrical Engineer / Site Electrical Engineer – will be responsible for the day to day activities on site, for materials, drawings, testing & commissioning and allocation of Departmental resources to work areas on Site. The Project Senior Electrical Engineer will report to the Project Manager.
- Supervisor – will be directly responsible for the day-to-day job on site, for handling the technicians or any other staff assign to his area.
- QA/QC Department – will oversee all the quality requirements and quality control measures for the Project in coordination with the Senior Electrical Engineer as outlined in the A&P QA Manual.
- Safety Officer – will be responsible for the Health and Safety aspects on site as per the Mains Contractor and A&P Safety requirements.
- PROCEDURES / METHOD TO BE EMPLOYED.
- Prepare and submit shop drawings for approval.
- Prepare and submit required materials for approval.
- Procure and deliver approved materials.
- Inspect materials upon arrival on site and ensure their good condition and specification compatibility.
- Offer materials for inspection to ATC/HYDER. Proceed if approved (M.I.R.)
- Mark locations of conduit terminations and stub-outs.
- Mark routes of conduit runs by using chalk line
- Confirm that all civil works on the walls have been completed.
- Deliver to site correct conduit sizes, boxes and accessories as required.
- Secure the saddles on the roof slabs or on the walls by using raw plugs and correct in size screws, having distance between them not more than 1200mm, following exactly the marked routes.
- Firmly secure the conduits on the saddles.
- Field cut conduits shall be threaded and reamed as required. Minimum conduit size shall be as per specification. All cut outs should be painted with galvafroid paint.
- TRAINING
8.1 Tradesmen performing the described work will be experienced electricians. If deemed necessary specific team / individuals will undergo further training and awareness programs for this activity by the Production / Quality Assistance Departments.
- Toolbox talks will provide general training and awareness for each activity and also in Health & Safety matters and precautions.
- WORKING HOURS
Normal working hours: 7.00 a.m to 5.00 pm
- HOUSE KEEPING
A&P personnel will clear work areas of scrap materials derived from their work on a daily basis ensuring clean and healthy work environment and also to maintain free access and egress in the event of an emergency.
- MANPOWER REQUIREMENT & SUPERVISION
Installing the Surface Mounted Conduits and Accessories minimum requirement in manpower is two skilled electricians.
- MATERIAL REQUIRMENT
Material requirement for this activity are: G.I. Conduits, Conduits Accessories, chalk marking string, raw plugs, screws.
- PLANT & EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
- General: Screw Driver, Hammer, Hand Saw, pliers, Bending Tool.
- Personnel Protective equipment: All personnel should wear at all time safety shoes, goggles, helmet and coverall.
- Working Platforms: Ladder or Scaffolding as required within the specific work area.
- Power: Single – phase normal power where it is needed.
