7.0 PROCEDURE
7.1 Work Sequence/Procedure:
Attached risk assessment should be considered during the puddle flange and sleeves installation and necessary controls must be implemented as per recommendations.
Installation for the puddle flanges and sleeves must be in accourdance to the approved shop drawings and as per approved submittal and MIR.
7.2 Material Storage & Handling
All material must be handled in correct way and stored in clean dry area.
7.3. Sleeves and Puddle Flange Installation:
7.3.1 Installation of Sleeve
- As per approved shop drawings and Invert Level, mark the centre and invert level of Sleeve on reinforcement /steel bars.
- Steel fixing contractor to bend and clear the exact area for installing Sleeve.
- Once the location is clear, position the Sleeve in the steel area.
- Once the Sleeve is in proper location recheck the level and alignment.
- Tie the sleeves with suitable wires with steel to avoid any misalignment while concreting.
- Clearance for civil contractor to close the shutter with exact holes matching with Sleeve to proceed with concrete pouring.
7.3.2 Installation of Puddle Flange
There are different types of puddle flanges as per below table:
Sr. #. | Application | Type of Pipe | Installation Area / Location |
1 | Water supply system | HDPE-SDR-11, PN 16 | Pipeworks Passes through External walls. |
2 | Chemical waste system | HDPE-DIN 19535 | Pipeworks Passes through External walls. |
3 | Drainage system | UPVC Class E, BS 3505 | Pipeworks passes through External wall. |
4 | Fire fighting system | Stainless Steel 316 – Seamless Type | Pipeworks passes through water tank walls. |
5 | Fire fighting system | HDPE-SDR-09, PN 20- Seamless Type | Pipeworks passes through the external walls. |
6 | Water supply system | Stainless Steel 316 | Pipeworks passes through water tank walls. |
7 | Fuel System | Carbone Steel ASTM Grade B- Seamless Type | Pipeworks passes through external walls. |
And the sequence of installation as follow as shown in Figure a:
- As per approved shop drawings and Invert Level, mark the centre and invert level of Puddle flange on reinforcement /steel bars.
- Steel fixing contractor to bend and clear the exact area for installing puddle flange.
- Once the location is clear, position the puddle flange in the steel area.
- Once the puddle flange is in proper location recheck the level and alignment.
- Clearance for civil contractor to close the shutter with exact holes matching with puddle flange to proceed with concrete pouring.
- Tobe painted externally with two coats of Bituminous paint before being built into structure.
- Bolts, nuts, washers, to be S.Steel 316.
- Die electricl materials to be used between two different flanges.
