METHOD STATEMENT To INSTALL BRANCH TO PRE-INSULATED DUCTWORK
The following list is the considered methodology to install branch to a section of pre-insulated ductwork.
- Operative to arrive a work face.
- Operative to have current revision of working drawing.
- Operative to have the following tools to carry out the operation.
(a) 1m long rule
(b) Marker
(c) Cutting tools for 90° and 45° cuts
(d) Approved adhesive
(e) Aluminium foil self-adhesive duct tap. - Operative to ensure the area affords correct amount of space to carry out the work.
- Operative to position duct on floor.
- Operative to mark opening that is to be cut (using metal rule for accuracy)
- For branch connections the operative then cuts the 4 sides of the hole, 1 at 90° and 3 at 45° (to match the fitting to be installed by using 45° tool cutter and 90° tool cutter)
- Operative the cleans the mitered faces.
- Operative applies the adhesive to all faces, hole in duct and to the fitting that is to be installed.
- Operative waits 15 minutes till both faces are tacky.
- Operative puts both sections together.
- Operative to wait 5 mins. For joint to set.
- Check for vertically with square.
- Operative to apply 2 layers of aluminium foil self-adhesive taps to all 4 joints.
- Completed duct section is now ready to be incorporated into the run of ductwork.
