1.0     SCOPE / OBJECTIVES

This Method Statement covers the installation of Recessed Mounted Lighting Fixtures. This procedure is to define the method used to ensure that the Recessed Mounted Lighting Fixtues have been installed as per the contract requirement.

Work will be carried out only when all associated works of Main Contractor been verified as completed.

4.0       HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARDS.

Health and Safety procedure by Main Contractor and by A&P will be implemented for this job. The responsible Safety Officer for each building will conduct regular safety inspection.

  1. Safety Lighting.

Safety lights will be used in case of power failure ensuring the good illumination of the working area to aid evacuation if necessary.

  1. Task Lighting.

Adequate lighting will be provided ensuring the good illumination of the working area. Task lighting, where required will consist of tripod mounted fluorescent light.

  1. Emergency Arrangements.
  • General: Site general safety procedures will be followed. In case of emergency the Safety Officer or any other senior personnel present will administer the emergency arrangements and report to assembly points as described during the Site Induction Course.
  • Fire Precautions: No significant fire risks associated with this activity but general fire precaution measures will be taken as per Arabtec instructions to A&P.
  • Communication: Communication from site areas to Site Office via mobile phones issued to senior foremen. In emergency situations the users of handheld 2-way radios to be notified if deemed that this can speed up notification of relevant personnel and/or the JBR01 Site Clinic.

  • Environmental Considerations: After the finalization of the works the working area should be cleared of waste materials on a daily basis related to the performed work.

6.0     RESPONSIBILITIES / SUPERVISION

  • Project Manager – will have the overall responsibility of the Project for execution, quality and safety. Also he will maintain the planning progress and coordination of works with main contractor.
  • Project Senior Electrical Engineer / Site Electrical Engineer – will be responsible for the day to day activities on site, for materials, drawings, testing & commissioning. The Project Senior Electrical Engineer will report to the Project Manager.
  • Supervisor – will be directly responsible for the day-to-day job on site, for handling the technicians or any other staff assign to his area.
  • Safety Officer – will be responsible for the Health and Safety aspects on site as per the Main Contractor and A&P Safety requirements.
  • QA/QC Department – will be oversee all quality requirements and quality control measures for the Project in coordination with the Senior Electrical Engineer as outlined in the A&P QA Manual.
  • PROCEDURES / METHOD TO BE EMPLOYED.
  • Prepare and submit shop drawings for approval.
  • Prepare and submit required materials for approval.
  • Procure and deliver approved materials.
  • Inspect materials upon arrival on site and ensure their good condition and specification compatibility.
  • Offer materials for inspection to ATC/HYDER. Proceed if approved.(M.I.R)
  • Ensure that all circuits have been wired.
  • Identify the type of lighting fittings and lamps that will be installed in each case, deliver them to the towers.
  • Ensure that the false ceiling has been erected and that it is of the specified type.
  • Where the false ceiling should be painted the first layer of paint should been completed prior commencing the installation of the lighting fittings.
  • Ensure that the Lighting Fixtures are supported independently. A backing type support may be used where applicable.
  • Ensure that openings in the false ceiling (plaster or tile type) have been made as per the factory recommended dimensions.
  • First of every type of apartment on each tower should be offered for HTC inspection to verify the light location.
  • Strip circuit wires (phase, neutral, earth) not more than 50mm and firmly secure them in the Lighting Fixture in the pre designated by the factory connection point.
  • Ensure that all circuit wires have been tested prior to termination at the Lighting Fixtures.
  • Install in the false ceiling openings the Lighting Fixtures following instructions of manufacturer.
  • First of every type of Lighting Fixture on each tower should be offered for inspection to HCL.
  • Install correct type of lamps in the Lighting Fixture.
  • Secure in place diffuser where it is applicable.
  • TRAINING

8.1       Tradesmen who will be used to perform the described work will be experienced electricians. If deemed necessary specific teams / individuals will undergo further training by the Production / Quality Assistance Departments.

  • Toolbox talks will provide general training and awareness for each activity as well as in Health & Safety matters and precautions.
  • WORKING HOURS

Normal working hours: 7.00 a.m to 5.00 pm

  1. HOUSE KEEPING

A&P personnel will clear work areas of scrap materials derived from their work on a daily basis ensuring a clean and healthy work environment and also to maintained free access and egress in the event of an emergency.

  1. MANPOWER REQUIREMENT & SUPERVISION

Installing the wiring accessories minimum requirement in manpower is one skilled electrician.

  1. MATERIAL REQUIRMENT

Material requirement for this activity are: Lighting Fixtures, Lamps.

  1. PLANT & EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
  1. General: Screw drivers, Wire Strippers, Wire Cutters.
  2. Personnel Protective equipment:  All personnel should wear at all time safety shoes, helmet and coverall, protective glasses and gloves.
  3. Power: Single-phase normal power where it is needed.
  4. Step Ladders.
