1.0 SCOPE / OBJECTIVES
This Method Statement covers the installation, testing and commissioning of the Generator Set. This procedure is to define the method used to ensure that the Generator Set has been installed as per the contract requirement.

Work will be carried out only when all associated works of the Main Contractor and A&P have been verified as completed.
4.0 HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARDS.
Health and Safety procedure by Main Contractor and by A&P will be implemented for this job. The responsible safety officer as per A&P procedure will conduct a routine safety inspections.
- Safety Lighting.
Safety lights will be used in case of power failure ensuring the good illumination of the working area to aid evacuation if necessary.
- Task Lighting.
Adequate lighting will be provided ensuring the good illumination of the working area. Task lighting, where required will consist of tripod mounted fluorescent light.
- Emergency Arrangements.
- General: Site general safety procedures will be followed. In case of emergency the safety officer or the most senior employee present will stop the work. He will administer the emergency arrangements and report to assembly points as described during Site Induction Course.
- Fire Precautions: No significant fire risks associated with this activity but general fire precaution measures will be taken as per Arabtec instructions to A&P.
- Communication: Communication from site areas to Site Office via mobile phones issued to senior foremen. In emergency situations the users of handheld 2-way radios to be notified if deemed that this can speed up notification of relevant personnel and/or the JBR01 Site Clinic.

- Environmental Considerations: After the finalization of the works the working area should be cleared of waste materials on a daily basis related to the performed work.

6.0 RESPONSIBILITIES / SUPERVISION
- Project Manager – will have the overall responsibility of the Project for execution, quality and safety. Also he will maintain the planning progress and coordination of works with Main Contractor.
- Project Senior Electrical Engineer / Site Electrical Engineer – will be responsible for the day to day activities on site, for materials, drawings, testing & commissioning. The Project Senior Electrical Engineer will report to the Project Manager.
- Supervisor – will be directly responsible for the day-to-day job on site, for handling the technicians or any other staff assign to his area.
- QA/QC Department – will oversee all the quality requirements and quality control measures for the Project in coordination with the Senior Electrical Engineer as outline in the A&P QA manual.
- Safety Officer – will be responsible for the Health and Safety aspects on site as per the Main Contractor and A&P Safety requirements.
- PROCEDURES / METHOD TO BE EMPLOYED.
- Prepare and submit required materials for approval as per section 1105/SP/E-16210, 16005 of specification and M.I.R.
- Procure and deliver approved materials as per section 1105/SP/E-16210, 16005 of specification.
- Offer materials for inspection to ATC/HYDER as per M.I.R. Proceed if approved.
- Confirm with Main Contractor that the Generator Room is ready to accept the Generator Set.
- Confirm that the access to the Generator Room is clear of obstacles.
- Move the Generator Set in place following the manufacturer handling instructions.
- Ensure that the Generator Set is firmly installed in place and leveled.
- Install the batteries and connect them following the installation manual of the manufacturer.
- Connect all power cables following the installation manual of the manufacturer.
- Connect all control cables at the Generator Set following the installation manual of the manufacturer.
- Identify the path way of the Exhaust Pipe and ensure that it is free from any obstacles.
- Install and secure in place the exhaust pipe, the primary and the secondary silencer.
- Ensure that all exhaust pipes are sloped downwards away from the Generator.
- Identify the position of the day tank and ensure that it is clear from any obstacles.
- Install in place the day tank and level it.
- Connect all pipe works ie: fuel line, venting pipe, overflow pipe, draining/dumping pipe and fuel supply line.
- Connect control cables at the three position float switch located at the daily use tank and at the control panel.
- Connect BMS cable to RS 232 socket located at the Generator Set.
- Bond the Generator Set with the nearest Earth bar using 25x3mm copper earth tape.
8.0 TRAINING
8.1 Tradesmen who will be used to perform the described work must have experience for the same works and be supervised by representative of the supplier/manufacturer. If deemed necessary specific teams / individuals will undergo further training by the Production / Quality Assistance Departments.
- Toolbox talks will provide general training and awareness for each activity as well as in Health & Safety matters and precautions.
9.0 WORKING HOURS
Normal working hours: 7.00 a.m to 5.00 pm
- HOUSE KEEPING
A&P personnel will clear work areas of scrap materials derived from their work on a daily basis ensuring a clean and healthy work environment and also to maintained free access and egress in the event of an emergency.
- MANPOWER REQUIREMENT & SUPERVISION
Manpower requirement & supervision depends upon the planning organization chart and site progress of works. A minimum of two electricians are needed to install the generator set.
- MATERIAL REQUIRMENT
Material requirement for this activity are: Cable Glands, Cable Lugs, Raw Bolts, 25mmx3mm copper tape, saddles, raw plugs, approved type of Generator.
- PLANT & EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
- General: Hammer Drill, Pliers, Mobile Crane, Hydraulic Crimping Tool, Insulation Megger Digital Multimeter.
- Personnel Protective equipment: All personnel should wear at all time safety shoes, helmet and coverall.
- Power: Single-phase normal power where it is needed.
