  1. INTRODUCTION

This Method statement describes in details the onsite installation of Fire pump for Firefighting system for Schlumberger Egypt integration project at Industrial Zone.

The Method Statement shall cover all works related to the installation of AHU as per approved shop drawing and approved material submittal for Schlumberger Egypt integration project at Industrial Zone, Giza, Egypt.

3.1. Specification – Section 13920 – 15320

5.1.      Project Manager:

It is the Project Manager duty to ensure that all necessary safety and protective equipment are provided along with properly trained and qualified personnel. Moreover, to ensure that all survey works are carried out in accordance with this method statement.

5.2.      Quality Engineer’s:

It is the Quality Engineer’s responsibility to ensure that all welding equipment is being calibrated. Ensure that all inspections and tests are carried out as per Project requirements and that all are recorded.

5.3.      Site Engineer / Site Supervisor’s:

It is the Site Engineer / Site Supervisor’s duty to organize the work force in a safe manner and to ensure that safety and protective equipment are being properly utilized. He must also ensure that the method statement procedure is followed and must observe any hold-points noted on the ITP and notify the HAC / EHAF International for inspection.

5.4.      Safety Engineer / Officer’s:

  • The Safety Engineer is responsible for devising and implementing programmers and plans to safeguard, health and safety of all employees, and to prevent loss or damage to the existing assets and projects, He is responsible for the implementing of the safety programs. He is also responsible to:
  • Provide support to site safety officers advising them on safe working methods and assisting with training of personnel.
  • Carryout regular site safety audits and reports and correct unsafe work practices and potential hazards.
  • Investigate and report all accidents near misses and recommend prevention measures. Ensure maintenances of good hygienic standards and availability of safety equipment and first aid treatment.
  • Present monthly safety reports and required documents.

Safety Officers are responsible for:

  • The day to day activities of maintaining safety on project site, they must: Understand and comply with requirements of the safety manual.
  • Cooperate with the safety engineer to create and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Assist the site engineers and foremen to organize the work area so that the men can perform their duties with maximum efficiency and minimize risk to themselves or to equipment
  • Inspect equipment and tools before use to ensure correct storage and properly utilization. Maintain record of all injuries and damages on site, submit reports as required.

6.1.Equipment & Machinery:

The following equipment will be used to carry out the installation of Fire pump

  • Grooved machine
    • Welding machine
    • Grinder
    • Spanner
    • Mobile crane

7.1       Storage

  • The Fire pump shall be stored in such a manner as to preserve its quality condition, protected from any form of physical damage also it is not exposed to direct sunlight to avoid deterioration by ultra violet light.
  • The Fire pump is to be piled in the store as per manufacturer recommendations.
  • The Fire pump shall be stack in size vise such that any particular consignment can be identified  by its delivery ticket, test certificates etc

7.2       Setting Out

  • Check the readiness of reference and coordinates.
  • Check the other subcontractor works related with the installations.
  • Lead the survey to establish grid lines and reference levels· which will be base for the

. locations of pipes. Inform in advance with a report the existence of any foreseen problems.

  • Arrange all necessary work permit, check and verify the actual site condition

7.3 Unloading and Shifting:

  • Fire pump shall be transported by a delivery truck and mechanical crane I fork lift to the specific work place location and accompanied by experience riggers.
  • Two lifting point will be used during the loading and unloading of Pipes to ensure safety that no incident will occurs. Traffic Aide will be present during loading and unloading of pipes for maintaining the traffic in the project site if needed.
  • All lifting equipment will be inspected daily before operating. Any parts detected damages must be replaced immediately before operating.
  • 7.4  Installation Method
  •  7.4.1 Fire pump: –
  • Set the fire pump electrical pump, diesel pump and jockey pump each on its concrete base not less than 100 mm height, according to manufacturer recommendation.
  • Install galvanized steel pipe with suitable length connected together by using approved pipe coupling.
  • Install all approved valves and fitting.
  • Check alignment and where necessary realign shaft or motors and pump within recommended tolerance by manufacture.
  •   7.4.1 Electrical: –

– Power & control: install Electrical Device furnished by the manufacture, HAC Response for the final Power connection from the power source (disconnecting switch in pump room) to the  fir e pump control panel including cables & raceways.

– Furnished single enclosure power and control panel (hinged door, lockable for booster pump system, enclosure shall be steel and furnished with an oven – backed enamel.

– the submittal will be described all component and wiring diagram for panel.

– All Civil work shall be finished before installation ( by HAC ).

– Shop drawing and details for installation shall be approved from the consultant before the installation .

  • The Location of panel and Raceways will be approved with the furniture re with the Shop drawing for Pump Room.
    • The cables will be pulling after raceways are finished from the motor Pump to the panel.
    • The cable termination in the panel starting after inspected and approved the raceways and the cables pulling from the consultant nt.

–  Valves interface with fire alarm should be considered.

–  Electrical & Diesel Pumps interface with fire alarm should be considered.

  • Earthling of equipments and Cable trays should be considered.
  • Installation of Fire Pump Control-Panel as per approved details.
  • Installation of diesel pump battery unit as per approved details.
    • The test of pump starting after inspected and approved the cable termination from the consultant then start up and commissioning.

7.5 I inspection

–  Request for inspection {IR) to be raised after completion of work.

Location     : As per approved shop drawings

9.1    PPE Requirements

As a minimum the following PPE should be used by staff / Labors

  • Hard hat.
  • Safety shoes.
  • Safety eye glasses.
  • Hand gloves.
  • High visibility vest.

Any additional PPE as required by local rules or mandatory requirement shall be used.

9.2.          Safety Accessories

  • Traffic Cones.
  • Warning /barricade/barrier tape.
  • Safety signs.
  • Cooled water container for drinking.
  • First Aid box.
  • Workers rest area
  • Portable toilet
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Sign boards of Emergency contact details/persons

9.3           Information to Personnel.

  • Safety Induction will be done in accordance with HAC HSE Policy prior to start work in site.
  • Safety toolbox meetings to be carried out prior to work.
  • Before job start checklist of protective & safety equipment to be use are in order.
  • Personal protective & safety equipment as per requirement to be performed by personnel to do the task.
  • Toolbox talk to be convened & attended by all personnel assigned to do the task. Work crew will be given instruction on site surveying procedure & all risk associated with the works and registered attendance.
  • Safety personnel & designated responsible person will ensure that all above is carried out & any other statutory requirements are complied with before any work takes.
  • Hazard analysis to be done.
  • Personnel who have been briefed in the correct equipment set up.
  • Personnel will wear gloves, footwear, head & eye protection during work.
  • Use the correct tools to do the task.
  • Removal of any obstructive / protruding materials.
