METHOD OF STATEMENT FOR INSTALLING FIRE DAMPER

1.0       SCOPE OF WORK

This Method Statement is applicable for installation of Fire Damper.

2.0       RESPONSIBILITY

Before commencement of any installation activity, the following procedures are required to be carried out.

  • All materials used must have an approved material submittal.
    • Check that delivered material is in compliance with approved submittal.
    • Check for any physical damages upon receipt of the same at site.
    • Before installations ensure location is as per the approved shop drawing.
    • Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.0       DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Installation Procedure

  • Cutting and chipping on wall to make easy access for fixing the dampers
  • Removing old duct passing through the wall.
  • Before installation check any physical damages on the dampers
  • Determine the position of damper to be fixed on the duct
  • Fix the damper with flange , nut bolt and apply duct sealant
  • Examine the location for requirement of installation tolerance & clearance
  • Fire rated dampers will be installed in Fire rated wall, partitions and floors
  • Installation of fire damper should be installed as per specification and manufactures recommendation
  • Each fire damper shall be provided with an access door to permit inspection and resetting of damper and adjacent duct work
  • Provide duct access door for internal access to all fire dampers for sizes bigger than 300mm width of the duct.
  • Duct sealant will be applied at joints in order to arrest air leakages

4.0       LABOUR, PLANT & MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The material shall be of approved Manufacturer as per the material submittal.
    • Skilled technicians, in sufficient numbers, shall carry out the installation.
    • The workmanship shall be maintained at all times.
  • SUPERVISION ARRANGEMENTS
  • A constant supervision under Mechanical Engineer & Foreman shall be carried out in order to control the work and the workmanship.
  • REFERENCE
  • Based on installed duct
  • EQUIPMENTS REQUIRED
  • Chisel, hammer, Ladders, scaffolds, measuring tape, wooden hammer, sheet cutter, right angle, compass, rivet gun & electric drilling machine.
  • ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ensure that the labour has a good working environment, a hazard free environment.
  • HEALTH & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
  • Ensure work area is clean and tidy.
    • Ensure the work Area is well ventilated.
    • All employees shall adopt safe working practices.
    • Safety equipment (example Hard Hats, Safety Shoes, Coveralls, Gloves, Goggles when necessary etc.) to be worn at all times.
    • GI sheet and all relevant duct work scrap material will be neatly stacked at a pre- designated waste area and will be regularly disposed off from site as required.
