METHOD OF STATEMENT
FOR BELOW GRADE SURFACES
OF CONCRETE FOOTING & UNDERGROUND PROPOSED
MASONRY WALL
Summary: This Method of Statement includes applied emulsified asphalt
damp proofing applied on:
I. Below grade surface of concrete footings foundation and columns.
II. Exterior below grade surface of concrete foundation walls.
III. Backside of concrete and masonry retaining walls below grade.
1. Preparation
- Protection of other work: mask and protect adjoining exposed surfaces from being stained, spotted or coated with damp proofing. Prevent damp proofing materials from entering and clogging weep holes and drain.
Clean substrates of projections using electric grinder and chisel (if required) and substances detrimental to work, fill voids, with subject to approved materials. Ensure that, the first coat is allowed to dry.
- Follow the prime material manufacturer’s recommendations.
2. Material for Application
Aquashield BX Ref. Transmittal # C-0130
- Application of Damp Proofing Materials
- Prepare porous surfaces by priming with Aquashield diluted 50:50 with water. Using brush, allow to dry 24 hours before application of first coating.
- First coat of the damp proof will be applied on the surface of the concrete structures by brush in the rate of 1.33 lit./m2 and secured for 24 hours to dry.
- second coat will be applied on the first coat surface by the 1.33 lit./m2 and then be secured for 24 hours.
4. Protection and Safety Precautions:
- Contractor will take necessary health and safety precautions.
- Follow the manufacturer’s recommendation regarding handling and storage.
Material delivery notifications shall be submitted for each package.
