Subject : Regarding toilet wall tile received on 27th Aug, 2017 and serious issue for tile quality in size/shape and 100% wastage noticed during fixing
Dear Sir,
With reference to above and our letter ref 14/09/25017 regarding the serious quality issue of the tile material supplied by the client and in continuation of the
Same kindly note the following:
- To support the project progress we tried to use these tiles by sorting out at fourth floor toilets and noticed that huge wastage of the tiles due to difference in size/shape and bend in the supplied tiles surface and corner.
- We are attaching the photos which are self-explanatory that there is a lot of difference in the sizes in two small packing and pallets.
- We are not only wasting our resources to select the approximate same size tile but also the wastage is almost 30%-40% additional due to tile quality issue.
The photographs attached above are self-explanatory. Even after the selection many tiles cannot be used due to bend at the edges of the tiles.
- We also found the broken tiles inside the packing (photos attached) and this will also be an issue if we have the shortage in future as well as we did sampling from various packing to confirm the fact that there is defect in every pallet.
Conclusion and our Issue need to be resolved:
- We cannot proceed with the tile work until the following is confirmed by the employer and from your office. The issues are following:
- How the contractor can proceed the work because of sub-standard material supplied by the client and time wasted in sporting the size and fixing.
- Client must bear the additional wastage and must supply extra tile against the wastage.
- Our claim must be approved for additional cost of the tile screening/sorting as a variation.
- We need additional cost for the fixing due to slow progress because of the size difference adjustment.
- Contractor needs additional time for screening/sorting and fixing and that must be confirmed by your office.
So, the Main Contractor will not be responsible for the issues mentioned above
and other impacts of the project completion as well as variation for additional
cost.
Regards,
For xxx Contracting L.L.C.
