1.0       INTRODUCTION

This Lifting Operations Plan details the project specific organization and arrangements for the management of lifting operations on the project.

 

Lifting operations include those carried out by tower cranes, mobile and crawler cranes, lorry-loaders, excavators, forklifts, gantries, telehandlers and other such equipment when being used as a crane to lift or lower loads.

 

This Lifting Operation Plan intent to provide a safe system of work and to ensure compliance with current legislation this site lifting plan has been developed and is to be implemented by every member of the crane team involved with this project.

It is vital that all lifting operations are properly planned by a competent person and that the plan is followed by everyone involved in the operation. This plan is to be read by all team members involved in lifting operations; and ensure the safe lifting practices are to be followed at all times. The Appointed Persons/Crane Supervisor/Rigging supervisor must ensure that:

  • All team members are fully competent and certified to carry out their individual roles.
  • All team members are confident that they can fulfil their duties especially when works may need to be carried out at height.
  • All documentation associated with the lifting operations that is generated during the project must be retained in an orderly manner within a referenced filing system.

1.1 XXX Lifting Strategy:

For lifting operations and execution of steelwork generally, the XXX advocates that the single most important step that contributes towards safe practice is to ensure that competent persons are mobilized. This is because such persons will observe the following precautions concerning the work in general and tasks in particular:

PRECAUTIONS

  • Do not commence work until it is clear what needs to be done.
  • Do not undertake work outside the limits of your competence.
  • Do not undertake tasks without the necessary tools and equipment.
  • Be clear about the arrangements for supervision in terms of the work control
  • Do not deviate from what has been planned without checking with those in the

Control  

  • Ensure that the area around the worksite is kept clear of hazards.
  • Watch out for hazardous activities being undertaken by other operatives, including others in your own gang.

Ensure that others not involved in the task do not encroach into an exclusion zone around the worksite.
